MISSING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL LOCATED SAFE IN COLUMBUS, HOUSTON MAN CHARGED

  

A man has been arrested in Columbus in connection to an Amber Alert for a missing girl out of Missouri City.

Around 12:45 p.m. Friday, the Columbus Police Department received notice that a 12-year-old girl, who was the subject of an Amber Alert, was possibly in the area.

Police said the girl was seen with 27-year-old Sirterryon Preston of Houston, who allegedly attempted to flee from officers but was captured.

The Houston Police Department reported that the girl was found unharmed.  After her identity was confirmed, she was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital for evaluation. 

Preston was transported to the Colorado County Detention Facility and charged with Evading Arrest.  Police said more charges are possible, pending investigation by the FBI.

Columbus police were assisted by the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
