TWO CALLS WEDNESDAY, ONE EARLY THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls on Wednesday and one early this (Thursday) morning.

At 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, the department was dispatched to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm.  Firefighters made location and discovered that the building had a bad smoke detector, causing the alarm to go off.  They turned the scene over to maintenance.

Just after 5:15 p.m., units were called out to a gas odor at a home in the 1000 block of Bormann Street.  The fire department and gas department checked the area for a leak or smell, and after investigation, the gas department released firefighters from the call.

Shortly before 12:45 a.m. today, BFD members were called to a crash in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East.  They arrived and found a two-vehicle accident.  Units checked for fluids leaking, but no mitigation was needed.  They provided traffic control while law enforcement was on scene, before proceeding to clear the area and return to service.
