SEVEN CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls on Wednesday.

Just after 7 a.m., the department was called out to Argent Court Assisted Living, 2815 Victory Lane, for a report of a fire alarm.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building when firefighters arrived.  They later found that a resident had burnt food in a microwave, so they reset the alarm and returned to service.

At 9 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to Highway 290 West and FM 389 for a transportation incident.  They made location to find both vehicles in a parking lot with no fluids leaking, so they returned to the station.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., units responded to a structure fire at West Lubbock Street and Westwind Drive.  They found a home with the garage area fully involved and fire extending into the house area.  Firefighters used hand lines to start extinguishing the fire and stop it from spreading into the living areas of the home.  They then made entry into the second story of the house to put out the fire on the exterior of the wall.  Units from the Salem and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments were called for manpower and to backfill the Brenham fire station for any additional calls.  There was smoke and water damage throughout the house.

Around 5:15 p.m., the department went out to the 200 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  Firefighters found a single vehicle on location, with the other vehicle having left the scene.  No fluids were found, and units returned to service.

Another transportation incident was reported just after 6:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of FM 389.  The department found a two-vehicle accident with fluids leaking and used dry absorbent on the spill.

Around 7:30 p.m., units were called to H-E-B, 2508 South Day Street, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but the department spoke to an employee and learned the fire pump was running.  BFD members checked the pump room and advised the employees to have an alarm company come out and check the system.

Just past 8:45 p.m., firefighters received a report of smoke in the area of the 1000 block of Top Hill Drive.  They arrived but found no smoke, so they returned to the station.
