NAVASOTA BOYS SOCCER GOING TO STATE

For the first time in school history, the Navasota Rattler Boys Soccer Team is going to the State Tournament.

For both of their matches of the Regional Tournament at Legacy Stadium in Katy, it all came down to penalty kicks.

In the semifinals, on Friday afternoon, Navasota and La Vega played to a 0-0 tie through regulation and two overtime periods. The Rattlers would then win the match on penalty kicks 5-3.

Then in the Regional Championship Game, on Saturday, Navasota played Lumberton to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtime periods. The Rattlers would then win that match on penalty kicks 4-3.

Navasota got to the playoffs by winning the District 20-4A Championship. They would then defeat Booker T. Washington 4-1 in Bi-District, Vidor 2-0 in Area, and Houston Scarborough 2-1 in the Region Quarterfinals 2-1.

Next up, the Rattlers (23-2-1) will play San Elizario (22-3) in the State Semifinals on Wednesday at 6:30pm at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown.

Boerne will play Kilgore in the other Semifinal on Wednesday at 4pm.

The winners meet for the State 4A Championship on Friday at 2:30pm.
