AREA HIGH SCHOOL GOLFERS ADVANCING TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS
The District Tournaments are in the books, and golfers from several area high schools have punched their tickets to the Regional Tournaments next week.
For Bellville High School, the Brahmas won the District 25-4A Tournament. Individually, Cooper Holloman finished second overall, and his teammate Deacon Bauerschlag finished third overall.
Meanwhile, on the girls side, the Brahamanette Red Team won first place in District 25-4A, while the Brahmanette White Team won second place. Individually, Kerby Krueger was second overall, and Sam Marik was fourth overall.
Their Regional Meet will be held April 17-18 at the Colony Creek Golf Course in Victoria.
In District 26-2A, Somerville High School entered only one golfer, and he happened to win the entire tournament.
Barrett Howe, who is a senior this year, was the top individual medalist in the tournament by finishing the day with an 84.
Coach Phil Roberts told the Burleson County Tribune that they hadn't planned on having a golf team this year, but Howe wanted to give it a shot. Roberts said he told his athletes that if there was something they wanted to compete in, that they would find a way to make it happen.
He now advances to the Regional Meet, which runs April 15-18 at the Gabe Lozano Golf Course in Corpus Christi.
Meanwhile, for the third straight year, the Snook Blue Jay Golf Team, won the District 26-2A Championship.
They had a team score of 383, which was 70 strokes ahead of the second place team, Normangee, who finished with 453.
Brett Withem led Snook with a score of 90, while JBeau Hruska shot a 92, Silas Hetland finished with a 97, and Jacob Castaneda had a 104.
Snook will also be going to the Regional Meet in Corpus Christi.
In District 29-A, on the Boys side, the Fayetteville Lions finished the meet in second place behind Richards. The team consists of Jake Kubela, Mason Fenhaus, Cash Smith, Chance Konvicka, and Brody Dooley.
For Individual Medalists, Carter Marburger of Round Top-Carmine finished first and Keagan Supak of Fayetteville finished second.
On the Girls side, the Round Top-Carmine Cubettes captured first place in the District beating out McDade. The team consists of Angie LeBouef, Makayla Smith, Avery Nelius, Kimberly Rohde, and Maggie Salinas.
For the Individual Medalists, Eva Shaw of Fayetteville finished first, while Fernanda Cerda of Round Top-Carmine came in second.
Next up, the golfers from Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine will be taking part in the Regional Meet April 16-17 at the Shadow Glen Golf Course in Manor.
Brenham and Burton did not have anyone advance to Regionals
