EARLY VOTING BEGINS FOR BURTON CITY COUNCIL RUNOFF ELECTION

  

Early voting has opened for the Burton City Council runoff election.

Hours for early voting at Burton City Hall are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Monday) through Friday, as well as next Monday and Tuesday, June 8th and 9th.

Polls for Election Day on Saturday, June 13th will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The runoff comes after candidates for Position #2 and #5 tied in their respective races in the May 2nd election.  Position #2 incumbent Tommie Gilmon faces Sheila Ripple, while Position #5 incumbent Macey Tidwell is challenged by Berneake Gantt.

Per the official total and recount numbers from the Washington County Elections Office, there were 133 ballots cast during the May election, with 272 registered voters eligible to participate.
