BRENHAM POLICE MAKE ARRESTS FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE POSSESSION, TRAFFIC VIOLATION

An arrest for a controlled substance was one of two made by the Brenham Police Department on Tuesday.

John Michael Rodriguez
(Washington Co. Jail)

At 10:30 p.m., Officer Garrett Downs conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Highway 290 East for a vehicle violation.  Upon further investigation, police found the driver, 31-year-old John Michael Rodriguez of Brenham, to be in possession of a controlled substance and had a firearm in the vehicle.  Rodriguez was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked in for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

The other arrest came at 5:45 p.m., when Officer Stephen Mosley stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Park Street.  The driver, 27-year-old Nancy Alexandria Taylor of Brenham, was taken into custody for a traffic violation: Ran Stop Sign.  Police say the driver refused to sign the citation, indicating she refused to promise to appear before the court.  Therefore, the officer placed her into custody for purposes of taking her before a magistrate.
