White said settlements were reached on 58 percent of the protests.  The Appraisal Review Board has heard 168 value protests so far and approved value reductions or other changes on 54 of those cases.  Approximately 186 protests remain.

The appraisal district is assisting taxing jurisdictions with tax rate calculations.  During the months of August and September, property owners can see their estimated tax using the website at https://washington.countytaxrates.com

White encourages the public to stay informed about their tax rates by using the county tax rates website, where users can look up their specific property and see the tax rates proposed, as well as see when tax rate hearings are scheduled.
