PRAIRIE VIEW WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO EMBEZZLING OVER $200,000 FROM CREDIT UNION ACCOUNTS
A Prairie View woman has pleaded guilty to embezzlement after being accused of misappropriating over $200,000 from accounts at the federal credit union she was employed at.
A release on Tuesday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office says 57-year-old Gloria Hall worked as a manager at Prairie View Federal Credit Union.
According to the release, from 2017 to 2019, Hall “purposefully maintained an antiquated business practice” which did not allow customers to access their accounts online. Hall admitted to accessing at least two elderly customer accounts and misappropriating $211,563 of their funds for personal gain.
The credit union did not survive the incident, as it would go on to merge in early 2022 with the Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union.
Hall faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $1 million. She was permitted to remain on bond pending sentencing, which is currently set for August 22nd.
