TWO FIRES AMONG FOUR TOTAL CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. MONDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to a pair of fires on Monday.

Just after 11:45 a.m., the department was dispatched to the 1100 block of Highway 290 West for a report of a structure fire.  When firefighters arrived, they found nothing showing from the exterior of the building.  They then spoke with an employee who advised they had a small fire on the outside of the building and used an extinguisher to put out the fire.  BFD members checked the area and found some smoke coming from the wall, so they used tank water to put out the remainder of the fire before returning to service.

Shortly before 7:45 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department were called out for a structure fire in the 900 block of Allen Road.  Meyersville firefighters arrived and found smoke coming from a trailer house.  Brenham units made location and started extinguishing the fire, while the Meyersville department began ventilation and checking for fire extension.  After the fire was out, Brenham firefighters returned to the station, while Meyersville crews stayed on location for a little while longer.

The Brenham Fire Department had two other calls on the day.

At 7:30 a.m., units received a report of a transportation incident in the 1900 block of Highway 290 West.  They arrived and found a single vehicle in the grassy area off the roadway.  After checking to make sure no fluids were leaking, the department cleared the call.

At 8 a.m., firefighters responded to an alarm sounding in the 900 block of Highway 290 East.  Nothing was showing from the outside of the building when units made location.  After speaking with an employee who said an alarm company was fixing the system and that it should be in test mode, the department returned to service.
