49TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE IN CHAPPELL HILL

  

The 49th Annual Independence Day Parade was held earlier this (Saturday) morning in Downtown Chappell Hill. Over the years the event has become known as the "Biggest Small-Town Parade in America."

The parade is sponsored by the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce.

This year's theme was "America 250: Faith, Family, and Freedom." 13-year-old Kaleb Stroech, the son of Lucas and Chris Ann Stroech kicked off the parade with the firing of the custom-built cannon.

Stroech had the winning bid to be this year's "parade gunner."

The parade featured many entries including the World Famous Marching Kazoo Band. The winning entries are:

1st Place – First Baptist Church Chappell Hill

2nd Place – Chappell Hill Garden Club

3rd Place – Tiger the Cat

Best Kids – Atmar Family – 1947 Willys Jeeps and mini-jeeps

Best Business – Citizens National Bank

Best Class Entry: Hubert Masonic Lodge # 67 – Chappell Hill
