BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO MEET ON TUESDAY

The Burton City Council will be holding their next meeting on Tuesday evening.

Among the items on the agenda is an ordinance that was originally enacted in 2001 that banned alcohol consumption and/or containers from being on city-owned property, including city parks.

The ordinance has been amended three times by ordinances in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Due to confusion surrounding the ordinance, the city’s legal advisor David Olson suggested that they vote to rescind all four ordinances, and replace it with a single new ordinance where all the rules are clearer.

Other items on the agenda include the termination of  a services contract with Linebarger, Goggan, Blair, and Sampson for the collection of delinquent property taxes.

They will also decide on a new camera security system for the Burton City Hall.

In a discussion-only item, the council will consider hiring an engineering firm for “As Needed “ engineering services

The Burton City Council meets Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Burton City Hall.
