BURTON SET TO OFFICIALLY HIRE NEW SUPERINTENDENT AT NEXT MEETING
The Burton School Board has some big items to discuss during their next meeting on Tuesday night.
At the meeting, the required 21-day waiting period will be over, and the board can officially hire Vikki Curry as the new Burton ISD Superintendent.
After going through 38 possible candidates, Curry was unanimously chosen by the board members to be the next superintendent at their May 20th meeting.
Curry comes to Burton from Galveston ISD, where she has been the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
She has over 30 years of experience in education.
Among the action items is a resolution for the purpose of hiring a Construction Manager-Agent to facilitate the construction project, and to authorize the superintendent and/or board president to negotiate the associated contract.
The school board terminated the contract with DSA Construction at their June 3 meeting after growing dissatisfaction with the project being behind schedule, and finding out at their May 13th meeting that several contracts related to the project had not been signed for several months.
They will also consider procedures concerning pay applications and change orders related to the construction project.
In addition to that, representatives from the Texas Association of School Boards are scheduled to make a presentation regarding a salary survey.
The Burton ISD Board of Trustees meets Tuesday at 6pm in the Burton High School Auditorium.
