WASHINGTON CO. JUNETEENTH JUBILEE KICKOFF FRIDAY, PARADE & MORE FESTIVITIES SATURDAY

The Washington County Juneteenth Association’s annual celebration culminates this weekend.

Tonight (Friday) will be the Jubilee Kickoff at Fireman’s Park in Brenham from 6 to 10 p.m.  The theme for the Kickoff is “Coolin’ in the Park”, and there will be music from Keyun and the Zydeco Masters, along with food and drinks.

Juneteenth Association President Betty Wilson, speaking during Tuesday’s Community Corner on KWHI, said everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy an evening of fellowship with family and friends.

Activities continue tomorrow (Saturday) starting with the parade through downtown Brenham at 10:30 a.m., featuring around 60 entries.  Streets on and around the parade route will be blocked off beginning at 8 a.m.

The 2024 Juneteenth Kings and Queens will be honored during the parade.  They include:

  • King, Toddler Division – Trystan McDonald
  • Queen, Elementary Division – Jazmine Mathis
  • Queen, Intermediate Division – Ariana Villatoro
  • King, Intermediate Division – Zay Crawford
  • Queen, Senior Division – Zora Austin
  • Queen, Adult Division – LaToya Beal

KWHI will broadcast the parade live.

Following the parade, the public is invited back out to Fireman’s Park for the Jubilee celebration, with vendors and music from a DJ.

Admission is free for all Juneteenth activities.
