WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS REOPENS AFTER CLEAN-UP FROM BERYL

The Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is back open after shutting down due to the effects of Hurricane Beryl.

In a social media post, the site says it experienced several hours of sustained winds from the storm, which led to significant tree damage, downed livestock enclosure fencing, shingle loss on buildings, utility outages and minor water intrusion.

Texas Historical Commission staff spent two days after the storm cutting up downed trees, removing hanging limbs, raking and picking up debris across the 300 acres of the complex.

The site reopened to visitors on Thursday once it was fully cleaned up and deemed safe.
