BRENHAM ISD NAMES NEW HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING COACH

Brenham ISD announced the hiring of Benjamin Proko as the new head swimming coach at Brenham High School.

According to BISD, Proko is an accomplished educator and athlete with over 20 years of experience in the education field, including two years working with Brenham ISD.

He holds a USA Triathlon Level 2 coaching certification and has had the honor of coaching on-deck swim workouts at the prestigious Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

As a dedicated triathlete, Proko has completed 20 Ironman races, won the Chappell Hill road bike race twice, and conquered the grueling Ultraman 520K, which consists of a 10K swim, a 168-mile bike ride, and a 52-mile run.

His athletic prowess extends to winning overall titles in at least a dozen triathlons and achieving the status of state champion adventure racer.

Lauren Metrailer, who served as the team's coach last year, will remain on as an assistant coach. She took over for former coach Jeff Clayton, who became the new head swimming coach at Cy-Park.
