SEVEN CALLS BETWEEN SATURDAY, EARLY MONDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department had a busy weekend, responding to seven calls between Saturday morning and early this (Monday) morning.

Around 7:45 a.m. Saturday, the department was dispatched to the 500 block of West Blue Bell Road for a transportation incident.  Units found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries to the drivers or passengers.  Firefighters cleaned the roadway of fluids and returned to service once both vehicles were removed.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m., BFD members responded to a report of a vehicle fire with hazmat in the 13200 block of Highway 290 East.  The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department arrived on location and extinguished the fire.  Brenham was called for its hazmat trailer to deal with possible hazmat that the truck was hauling, but it was determined that the truck was not carrying any hazmat, so Brenham firefighters cleared the scene.

Just past 6:15 a.m. Sunday, units were called to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but upon checking, they found the building was having alarm problems.  The alarm was reset, and firefighters returned to the station.

Another alarm call came in just shy of 6:45 a.m. at a home in the 600 block of Davy Street.  While enroute, dispatch advised that proper code was given for cancellation.

Around 7:30 a.m., a transportation incident was reported in the 200 block of West Tom Green Street.  Firefighters found a two-vehicle accident with fluids leaking and injuries, so they used dry absorbent on the spill and helped EMS with the patients.  The department returned to service once the vehicle were removed from the roadway.

Shortly after 10 p.m., units responded to a home in the 500 block of West Third Street for a report of a child’s finger stuck inside the hole of a ladder.  They used side cutters to cut the plastic away from the finger.  EMS checked the patient out, and all firefighters cleared the scene.

Around 12:15 a.m. today, the department went out to the 2700 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  There, fighters discovered a single-vehicle accident with no injuries or fluids leaking.  The vehicle was off the roadway, so the department returned to service.
