FOUR CALLS SATURDAY, ONE SUNDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times over the weekend.

The first of four calls on Saturday came just before 7:45 a.m., when units responded to the 2100 block of Highway 36 North for a possible vehicle fire.  No fire was found, as firefighters made location to discover the vehicle was having engine issues.

At 12:45 p.m., the department went out to a crash in the 2700 block of Highway 36 South.  It found a two-vehicle crash with no fluids leaking.  Both vehicles were moved into the Lowe’s parking lot, and firefighters returned to service.

At 7 p.m., BFD members responded to the Mill Creek Residence Hall, 1192 Old Mill Creek Road on the Blinn campus, for a fire alarm.  Upon arrival, they found there was a bad detector and let maintenance crews know about the issue.

Another alarm call came in around 10:45 p.m. along Highway 36 South, but proper code was received from the alarm company for cancellation.

Shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, the department received a report of illegal burning in the backyard of a home in the 900 block of West Jefferson Street.  Firefighters advised the homeowner of city ordinance before returning to the station.
