BLINN PROFESSOR DR. DANIEL JOHNSON TO PERFORM FREE RECITAL SEPT. 21
Dr. Daniel Johnson, a lyric baritone and Blinn College District Music Department professor, will perform at a free recital Saturday, Sept. 21, marking the start of the College’s fall music season.
The recital begins at 2 p.m. in the C.F. Schmidt Building’s Finke Recital Hall, located at 800 College Avenue (map) on the Blinn-Brenham Campus. The event is free and open to the public and will be streamed on the Music Department YouTube Channel.
Johnson has performed at numerous recitals and special events since joining Blinn as a Voice and Opera Professor in 2019. His Sept. 21 recital will feature German art songs, including “An die ferne Geliebte” by Ludwig van Beethoven and “Myrthen” by Robert Schumann. These selections align with the German repertoire his freshman voice students are studying this semester.
“Dr. Johnson’s recital is an excellent way to begin off our fall music events,” said Todd Quinlan, Performing Arts Department Head. “We have a diverse lineup planned this season with something for everyone to enjoy.”
Blinn’s Music Department offers small classes, one-on-one attention, practical learning, and accessible faculty so that students are actively engaged in a superior learning environment. Students can pursue an Associate of Arts Degree in Music that provides a solid foundation in the creative and technical aspects of music, including music theory, history, composition, and performance.
