BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL HOLDS BRIEF PUBLIC HEARING FOR ANNEXATION ON DIXIE ROAD, OLD MASONIC ROAD

The Brenham City Council gathered for all of six minutes this (Thursday) afternoon to hold the second public hearing for a proposed annexation.

The subject 6.5 acres of land slated for annexation includes two tracts around Dixie Road totaling 4 acres near the Vintage Farms subdivision, as well as three tracts around Old Masonic Road adding up to 2.5 acres next to the Scenic Estates subdivision.

No one from the public spoke at the hearing, and City Secretary Jeana Bellinger said she has not received any comments or questions on the matter.  The first public hearing on August 15th also had no comments.

The first reading of an annexation ordinance will come during the council’s next regular meeting on September 5th, the same date as the scheduled public hearing for the city’s proposed tax rate and budget.

The only other item listed for consideration was on the consent agenda and was approved, as the council agreed to purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe for the Brenham Fire Department for $52,600.  The vehicle comes from Buyboard cooperative vendor Caldwell Country Chevrolet.
