BRENHAM PLANNING & ZONING APPROVES REPLAT, RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF VARIANCE

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday approved a residential replat and gave its vote of recommendation for a variance request.

The replat is for a 16.445-acre lot at 1202 Shepard Street, which currently consists of a single-family home and vacant land.  The applicant, Janet Long, wished to subdivide the residential property into two lots, one of 15.319 acres and another of 1.126 acres, for further development.

The variance request from Garrett Salmans and Ronda Kilburn concerns 6.64 acres at 1733 Burleson Street that they recently purchased with the intent of building a single-family home.  However, the property does not have immediate and direct access to a public right-of-way or private road, so they are looking for a variance to remove the requirement to have property frontage on a public right-of-way.

The variance will be considered by the Brenham City Council at its meeting on October 3rd.
