Statements come in many forms.
On Saturday in Athens, Texas, No. 11 Blinn College volleyball made one with a decisive road sweep of Region XIV rival and ninth-ranked Trinity Valley Community College.
The Buccaneers outlasted the Cardinals in a close first set before cruising in the final two games to earn a 25-22, 25-14, 25-10 victory. Blinn pushed its winning streak to 21 games while improving to 28-2 overall and 6-0 in the region standings.
"The girls played really well today and I'm proud of them," Bucs head coach Terry Gamble said. "To go on the road and beat a really good team is always good."
NJCAA Division I kills leader and sophomore right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik stepped up big for Blinn as she paced her team with 18 successful attacks. Dorotik's team-high kill total bumped her season tally to 468. Her teammate and freshman outside hitter MaKenna Loo is the only hitter in the country currently trailing her in kills, and Loo put forth a timely 11 against Trinity Valley.
Freshman outside hitter Greta Rakow chipped in eight kills.
In the center of the offense was freshman setters Leah Hoss and Bromli Watson, who drew praise from Gamble after dishing out 23 and 14 assists, respectively.
At the service line, Loo and sophomore libero Cierra Pesak knocked down two aces apiece.
On defense, Pesak and Look had a strong ballgame, with Pesak controlling the floor to the tune of 11 digs and Loo's 10-dig outing trailing right behind her. At the net, Dorotik tallied one solo block to go with four assists, while freshman middle blockers Jana Cetkovic and Karolina Karabasz added three apiece.
Blinn returns home for a region clash with Tyler Junior College set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
