BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO ACT ON BIDS FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT, GROUNDWATER SUPPLY PROJECTS
The Brenham City Council will meet Thursday to potentially accept bids for wastewater treatment plant and groundwater projects.
The wastewater project includes rehabilitating the wastewater treatment plant and the process aeration blowers. The total cost to proceed through the lowest of three bidders, Stolz Mechanical Contractors LLC of Old Washington, is $3,755,500. That sum would be funded by $3,157,808 in American Rescue Plan Act grant funds and $597,692 in Fiscal Year 2024 wastewater bond proceeds.
The groundwater supply project consists of revitalizing the existing water well at Loesch Street and constructing a new well. The cost with the lowest of two bidders, Hydro Resources-Mid Continent Inc. of Creedmoor, is $1,864,560, which will be paid for with Fiscal Year 2024 bond proceeds.
Also on Thursday, the council will consider:
- An ordinance on its first reading providing no parking zones on West Fifth Street, fronting Blinn College property. The zones are recommended at 805 West Fifth Street heading westward, ending at the intersection of West Fifth Street and Prairie Lea Street. They are also recommended at the most westward driveway of Lot B heading westward, ending at the intersection of West Fifth Street and Prairie Lea Street.
- An ordinance on its first reading authorizing the placement of a stop sign on Muse Street at its intersection with Harrington Street.
- The purchase of a virtual server host and storage system equipment for the city’s Information Technology Department from Weaver Technology, in the amount of $199,607.
The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
