FAITH MISSION’S CANDLELIT CHRISTMAS KICKS OFF HOLIDAY SEASON, RAISES OVER $100,000 FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES

Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham was packed with hundreds of people Thursday night for Faith Mission’s annual Candlelit Christmas Gala.

Ricky Dickson, former President and CEO of Blue
Bell Creameries, speaks to those in attendance at
Faith Mission's Candlelit Christmas Gala on
Thursday at Silver Wings Ballroom.

The event is Faith Mission’s primary fundraising activity and signals the beginning of the Advent season.

This year’s gala, themed “The Kindness that Comes from Christ”, featured a turkey dinner, music from the Cowboy Church of Brenham Band, and bidding on silent auction items.

Guests also heard a keynote speech from former Blue Bell President and CEO Ricky Dickson, who talked about finding the purpose and passion in life while also having the patience to wait for what a person’s true meaning for their life may be.

Faith Mission Executive Director Reverend Randy Wells says preliminary fundraising totals from Thursday night come out to over $100,000.  All proceeds go toward the organization’s efforts to support Washington County residents in need, with food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and other services.

Faith Mission is also raising funding through a capital campaign for a cannery center, which will be located next to the Cannery Kitchen in Brenham.  The facility is planned to serve as the site of a job training program where people can learn how to can goods and acquire other job skills.
