The Blinn College women's basketball team concluded the two-day Paris Classic with a 67-51 triumph over Seminole State College (Seminole, Okla.) on Saturday in Paris, Texas.

The Buccaneers earned their third consecutive victory to improve to 4-1 overall.

Blinn got off to a slow start as it led the Trojans just 11-9 after the first quarter but got going in the second quarter. A 24-point period put Blinn firmly in control as it carried a 35-22 advantage into halftime.

The Bucs led 50-39 heading into the fourth period.

Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said while his team did enough offensively to collect the win, it was the Bucs' defense that got them to the finish line.

"This was not the best offensive performance for us tonight, as we missed a lot of open layups and perimeter shots," Jenkins explained. "However, our defense kept us in the game. Seminole State is extremely hard to guard because they shoot 3-pointers very well, so I was proud of how we found a way to win when our own shots were not falling."

Blinn sophomore guards Jonesha Neal and Wynter Jones finished with 16 and 12 points, respectively, sophomore forward Tocarra had 10, and freshman forward Cynthia LeCompte tallied nine.

The Bucs continue their season with their home opener against Nelson University at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
