Members of the sheriff’s office, Caldwell Fire Department and DPS responded around 11 a.m. to an explosion off of FM 2000, north of Cooks Point.  Residents reported hearing the explosion and feeling their homes shake from several miles away.

Officials arrived at an oil pad that the sheriff’s office says was not operational.  All employees were accounted for.

According to Burleson County Chief Deputy Bill Rios, the explosion was due to suspected static electricity.  An investigation is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office thanks the firefighters who responded for their work in quickly getting the fire under control.
