A driver was arrested on an intoxication charge early Saturday after driving into the front of a business in downtown Chappell Hill.

The accident happened at 12:30 a.m. at The Brazos Star, 5101 Main Street.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2001 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Main Street when, according to the driver, a deer entered the road.  The driver told DPS he swerved to avoid the deer and struck the building.

  1. Might be that they could be drinking at home……..You don’t have to be served alcohol in a business to be drunk.

  2. Why isn’t law enforcement looking into where these DWI offenders were served? We sure have a lot of DWI in this county.

    1. DWI is not exclusive to alcohol. You can take certain types of prescription medications or illicit drugs and be “Driving while intoxicated” or “driving under influence”. So, don’t be so ready to accuse bartenders. Most bartenders are trained to help prevent people from driving while intoxicated.

    2. What?
If you drink more than 2 or 3 drinks in an hour, and then drive, you will most likely be over the limit. Most people who go out to a restaurant or bar will easily have that.
It is personal responsibility and luck of the draw, so to speak.
If you are not familiar, Washington County is one of the wettest counties in the state, full of German and Czech ancestry, who LOVE their beer.
That fella was most likely drunk from a residence, not a local bar.
