PHILIP SUAREZ ANNOUNCES 2026 BID FOR 10TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
As the 119th Congress gets underway on Capitol Hill, a new candidate has already announced plans to run for election in 2026.
Republican Philip Suarez has declared his candidacy for U.S Congressional District 10, representing Washington County and surrounding counties.
Suarez is a U.S. Army veteran and paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division who was deployed to Afghanistan, earning the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Army Commendation. He was honorably discharged after an injury and moved into the real estate business.
In a press release announcing his bid for the office, Suarez said Texans “deserve a fighter” and someone who “will stand for the interests of Texas families, not against them.” He said his platform will fully commit to Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) recommendations, eliminating wasteful spending and holding Congress accountable to Texans. He also seeks to achieve veterans healthcare reform for better and more efficient service while prioritizing domestic energy production, supporting nuclear energy innovation and protecting oil and gas jobs in Texas.
A native of California, Suarez moved to Texas in 2017 with his wife, Cory. He told KWHI he currently lives in Cypress, which was formerly located in the Congressional district prior to the boundary re-alignment stemming from the latest census. He said Brenham will serve as his campaign headquarters.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives do not have to live in the district they represent. However, Suarez said that, regardless of the outcome of next year’s election, he intends to move to Brenham in the next 48 months to be closer to family.
The 10th Congressional District is currently represented by Republican Michael McCaul, who won re-election this past year to an 11th term.
