BHS STUDENT RECOGNIZED FOR COWBOY ACHIEVEMENTS
Brenham High School Student Dakota West, along with a little help from his horse, Sugar Hi, is being recognized for his multiple recent achievements.
According to Brenham ISD, West made it to the State Finals in Cutting, where he was named the State Reserve Champion.
From there, he went on to the National High School Rodeo Finals where he placed 12th in the nation.
Because of his performance and highest cumulative points in 2024, West was named the Rookie of the Year Cowboy for the State of Texas.
This past January, West was also inducted into the American Cutting Horse Youth Hall of Fame.
Regarding West, Brenham ISD released a statement saying that they are proud of his hard work, dedication, and success.
They added that his accomplishments reflect the true spirit of determination and excellence.
Congratulations on your accomplishment as State Reserve Champion, being named rookie of the year, AND being inducted into the ACH Youth Hall of Fame. Three very prestigious positions acquired after your many long hours of practice & competition. You deserve a hardy pat on the back, Dakota & Sugar Hi a big slap on the rump. What a team!
