PANTHERS DROP TOUGH ONE TO MUMFORD 8-3

The Mumford Mustangs swept the Burton Panther Baseball Team after an 8-3 victory earlier tonight (Friday).

Mumford jumped to an early 5-0 lead by score three times in the first inning and twice in the second inning.

Burton got one run back in the bottom of the third when Tyler Witt reached on an error, and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1.

However, Mumford tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth to make it 7-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Isaac Matthies singled home Eli Jaeger to get Burton on the board with their second run and cut the lead to 7-2.

The Mustangs scored again in the top of the sixth to increase their lead to 8-2. Burton would get one last run in the bottom of the seventh. Witt singled, stole second, and later scored on an error.

The Panthers drop to 10-8 on the season, and 3-3 in district. Next up, they will host Somerville Tuesday night at 6:30pm.
