SHERIFF’S OFFICE MAKES ARRESTS ON CHARGES INCLUDING TAMPERING, FAILURE TO ID

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports three arrests between Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Shortly before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Corporal Salinas conducted a traffic stop in the 17500 block of Highway 290 West for no license plate light.  The sheriff’s office says the driver did not possess a driver’s license, and a consent search led to the discovery of fictitious plates and receipts pertaining to the vehicle.  28-year-old Olmin Javier Romero Duarte of Austin was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.  He was charged with No Driver’s License, Tampering with a Government Record, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Display/Expired Registration.

A few minutes after 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, Corporal Zavala initiated a traffic stop in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East for a defective headlamp.  The driver, 23-year-old Kevin Humberto Pena Garza of Houston, did not have a driver’s license and was placed under arrest.  Additionally, drug paraphernalia was reportedly found during an inventory search of his vehicle.  He was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with No Driver’s License, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Seat Belt.

At 10:45 p.m., Deputy Faske conducted a traffic stop in the 12400 block of FM 390 West for no vehicle registration.  The sheriff’s office reports that the driver originally provided a fictitious name, but was identified as 64-year-old Barbara Ann Boyland of Dime Box.  Boyland was found to have an active warrant in Lee County and was taken into custody.  She was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive with Intent to Give False Information, Driving While License Invalid Enhanced, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, 28-200 Grams, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Display/Expired Registration.
