HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOLDS SITE BLESSING FOR 13TH & 14TH WASHINGTON CO. HOMES

Two Brenham families’ dreams of home ownership are one step closer to reality.

Representatives from Habitat for Humanity and
members of the Bellard and Crawford families
gathered on Saturday for a site blessing at the
location of two new homes on Cottonwood Street
and Hosea Street.

Representatives and volunteers from Habitat for Humanity joined the families of Brittanie Bellard and Lisa Crawford on Saturday for a site blessing at their homes under construction on Cottonwood Street and Hosea Street.  Once work on the homes is completed over the next several months, the Bellards and Crawfords will become Habitat for Humanity’s 13th and 14th homeowners in Washington County.

Both mothers spoke on the positive impact Habitat for Humanity will have on their families’ living situations, with Crawford calling it “a divine gift for our family”.  Meanwhile, Bellard said, “My heart is so full of gratitude.”

The homes will both come with three bedrooms and two bathrooms for the mothers and each of their two children.

Bryan Best, board president for BCS Habitat for Humanity and head of the Washington County committee, thanked all of the donors, vendors, suppliers, contractors, volunteers and City of Brenham staff who have worked to get the project off the ground.

At the conclusion of the site blessing, visitors were invited to write prayers and words of encouragement on the framing of the house.

Habitat for Humanity continues to look for lots to keep building starter homes in the community, offering a chance at low-cost home ownership to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.  To learn more about Habitat for Humanity, visit https://habitatbcs.org

  1. I worked for Habitat for Humanity in BCS for 7 years, and the amount of pride one can have helping a family go from a place they do not own, to their very own house that they built with volunteers, friends, and family is a rewarding experience that I hope everyone will support and see for themselves.

Congratulations to all that participated, and congratulations on the new home!
