BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO TWO ACCIDENTS, INVESTIGATES REPORT OF LIGHTNING STRIKE
The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Monday.
Approaching noon, units were dispatched to a home in the 2100 block of Timberline Court for a reported structure fire. Crews investigated and found there was a burning odor coming from an electric appliance. The appliance was unplugged, and the department notified the owner of its findings before returning to service.
Shortly after 12:45 p.m., firefighters responded to a crash at Highway 290 East and Tiaden Lane. They found a single-vehicle accident and remained on scene for standby and traffic control until they were released by law enforcement.
Around 3:45 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department was called out as mutual aid with the Salem Volunteer Fire Department for a reported structure fire in the 2000 block of Randle Hill Road. The caller reported the smell of smoke after a possible lightning strike to the house. Units investigated, but nothing was found.
A few minutes after 4 p.m., BFD members went out to a crash at Becker Drive and Stringer Street. They discovered a two-vehicle accident and remained on scene for traffic control until both vehicles were removed from the roadway.
Around 8 p.m., Brenham firefighters responded as mutual aid with the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department for a grass fire in the 6300 block of Highway 290 West. They learned that an electrical pole had blown a fuse, but there was no fire when they arrived on scene, so they cleared the call.
