BLINN COLLEGE CLOUD COMPUTING COURSE ADDS GENERATIVE AI CERTIFICATION
A Blinn College cloud computing course will offer students an exciting new opportunity this fall: the chance to prepare for the AWS Certified AI Practitioner, one of the newest and most in-demand technology credentials in the world, along with other highly respected industry certifications from Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.
ITNW 1309: Fundamentals of Cloud Computing is an online course that serves as the entry point to Blinn’s Associate of Applied Science Degree in Cloud Computing. The course introduces students to cloud concepts, services, architecture, system integration, security, compliance, and technical support, while preparing them for industry-recognized certifications.
New this fall, students will be able to prepare for the AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) exam through the AWS Academy Generative AI Foundations curriculum. Offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the certification validates an understanding of generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, responsible AI practices, and AWS tools for AI development.
In addition to the AWS Certified AI Practitioner credential, ITNW 1309 also prepares students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam, which provides foundational cloud computing knowledge; the AWS Certified Solutions Architect credential, available through the next course in the sequence; and Microsoft Azure certifications, which demonstrate cloud proficiency on Microsoft’s industry-leading platform.
“Amazon Web Services is the world’s largest cloud provider and a leader in generative AI solutions,” said Carol Wiggins, Program Coordinator for Blinn’s Computer Information Technology Department. “By adding the Generative AI certification to the Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, and Microsoft Azure pathways already available through our program, we give students an even greater advantage in a competitive job market that is growing every day.”
The demand for cloud and AI professionals is immense. AWS, Google, and Microsoft continue to dominate the industry, and AWS will guarantee an interview for students who earn both the Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect certifications.
“There is a 1.4 million-employee shortage in cloud services alone, and much of that work can be done remotely,” Wiggins said. “For students, this means the ability to gain industry certifications that open doors to high-paying, flexible careers.”
The payoff can be significant. Graduates with prior computing experience can earn salaries exceeding $100,000.
ITNW 1309 is a 16-week, fully online course beginning August 25. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/cloud-computing.
