HOUSTON MAN ARRESTED FOR COCAINE POSSESSION

A driver with a large amount of cocaine in his vehicle found himself behind bars after his arrest in Fayette County.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, the incident began on Friday just after 11:15am.

Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith made a traffic stop on a 2018 Honda Van that was traveling east on I-10 near the Engle community.

Smith made contact with the driver, 29-year-old Daniel Lugo of Houston. According to Smith, he observed that Lugo had conflicting travel patterns.

Smith asked Lugo for consent to search the vehicle, but was denied.

Schulenburg Police Officer Bryon Powe and K-9 Officer “Semper” were called to assist at the scene.

The officers located seven kilos of cocaine in the van with a street value of $245,000.

Lugo was arrested on a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge, and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.
