WIFE OF BLINN A.D. TO PERFORM AT NFL GAME

Lisa Schumacher (Scott Schumacher)

While normally it is her husband in the spotlight, Lisa Schumacher, the wife of Blinn College Athletic Director/Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Schumacher, has her own big event coming up this Sunday.

Schumacher was recently selected to be part of The Stayin' Alive Crew, a dynamic dance group of adults aged 50 to 74.

The group is preparing to take the field at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to deliver a high-energy, 55-member performance set to a crowd-pleasing mix of popular music during the Seattle Seahawks-Los Angeles Rams game this Sunday.

Originally based in Atlanta, Georgia, the Stayin’ Alive Crew has grown into a national movement. Following an overwhelming response to a virtual audition that drew over 150 applicants from across the U.S., co-directors Janette Hinton, Josette Perez, and Elaine Burgett have added 23 additional passionate dancers from around the country to join their core team for this major performance. Schumacher being among them.

Since then, dancers have been mastering choreography through instructional videos from their homes nationwide. They will come together in Los Angeles on Saturday for their first full in-person rehearsal before taking the field to showcase their infectious energy and love of dance.

“This team proves that dance has no age limit,” says co-director Janette Hinton. “We’re showing the world that passion, rhythm, and community can keep you stayin’ alive—at any age and from anywhere.”
