NINE ARRESTS FOR BRENHAM PD INCLUDE CHARGES OF ASSAULT, EVASION, RESISTING ARREST

  

Brenham police reported nine arrests between Friday and early this (Tuesday) morning.

Jeremiah Dayton Dean

Just after 8:45 a.m. Friday, officers executed a warrant service in the 300 block of Pecan Street.  42-year-old Jeremiah Dean of Brenham was placed into custody for an active warrant for Violation of a Protective Order.  Dean was taken to the Washington County Jail and booked in without incident.

Around 6:15 p.m., Officer Mateo Guillen and Officer Eric Crosby conducted a warrant service in the 2100 block of Huisache Street.  Police say 24-year-old Xavier Martinez of Brenham was taken into custody for four counts of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury and transported without incident to the Washington County Jail.

At 9 p.m., Officer Rosa Salinas conducted a traffic stop for failing to stop at a stop sign.  Police say a probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a THC vape and a handgun.  19-year-old Homer Ware III of Beaumont was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.  Ware was taken to the Washington County Jail without incident.

At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Officer Brayten Rolling responded to a call for service in reference to a crash in the 2900 block of Highway 36 South.  During the investigation of the crash, police found that one of the drivers, 47-year-old Raymond Charles Wright of Brenham, had an active warrant for his arrest for Injury to a Child/Disabled Individual Causing Reckless Bodily Injury.  Wright was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Just shy of 3:45 p.m., Officer Zachary Heinecke responded to the 2600 block of Highway 36 South in reference to a suspicious male who was reported as appearing to be intoxicated.  Police say further investigation revealed the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Eric Hernandez of Burton, was intoxicated.  Hernandez was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked in for Public Intoxication.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Officer Gabriel Duran, Officer Crosby, Officer Trinten Rolling, Sergeant Tiffany Anderson and additional agencies responded to the 500 block of Green Street in reference to a physical disturbance.  On scene, police state their investigation revealed that 22-year-old Gregarious Sheppard of Brenham allegedly assaulted two known persons who lived in the same household.  Sheppard was arrested for Assault Family Violence with Bodily Injury and booked into the Washington County Jail.

Close to 9:45 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a reported physical disturbance near the 400 block of Lott Lane.  Upon arrival, an individual fled the scene in a motor vehicle.  A pursuit was initiated and eventually ended near the 300 block of Shed Johnson Lane.  According to police, investigation revealed that the subject, identified as 39-year-old Dwayne Bonner of Brenham, was the alleged primary aggressor in the reported assault.  Bonner was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle and Assault Family Violence with Previous Conviction.

Nearing 4 a.m. Monday, Officer Crosby initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Highway 290 West.  Officers reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and as they went to detain the driver, they say the driver showed resistance while also trying to dispose of evidence that was later located on the roadside.  The evidence located was marijuana, and a probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a loaded firearm in the front seat.  Police say the driver, 28-year-old Dennis Shelton of Round Rock, has a prior felony conviction and cannot legally possess a firearm in his vehicle.  Shelton was placed into custody and taken to the Washington County Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., Resisting Arrest, Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

At 1:15 a.m. today, Officer Salinas conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation near the 2200 block of East Stone Street.  Upon further investigation, police say the driver, identified as 27-year-old Oscar Andrade of Brenham, was found to be driving with an invalid license with previous conviction and no insurance.  Andrade was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.
