LADY PANTHER SOFTBALLS SWEEPS MILANO WITH A 21-0 WIN

Lexi Broesche (Burton ISD)

The Milano Lady Eagles Softball Team is probably glad that they do not have to see the Burton Lady Panthers again for the rest of this season.

After winning their first game 22-1 on Tuesday night in Milano, the Lady Panthers beat the Lady Eagles 21-0 in Burton last (Friday) night.

The game lasted only two and a half innings. Lexi Broesche got the win in the circle going three no-hit innings, without allowing a run, no walks, and striking out eight.

Burton scored early and often as they put up 17 runs in the first inning. Amaya Williams and Paige Fritsch got it going in the bottom of the first with back-to-back jacks.

Williams hit a two-run shot, while Fritsch had a solo blast.

Amaya Williams (Burton ISD)

Later in the first inning, Williams came up again, and hit a grand slam. That would bring her total to two homers and six RBIs in just one inning. On the season, she is now up to a .680 batting average with 11 homers and 47 RBIs.

Lexi Broesche was 2 for 3 at the plate with a single, a double, three runs scored, and an RBI. Natalie Hodde added two singles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Melanie Wood added a single, a double, two runs, and two RBIs

With the big lead, Head Coach Zack Zorn was able to empty his bench and let everyone contribute to the victory.

Next up, the Lady Panthers will host Somerville on Tuesday at 6pm in Burton.
