BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN THE RUNNING FOR ‘AMERICA’S FAVORITE STUDENT’ CONTEST
A freshman at Brenham High School is up for nationwide recognition.
Carter Canales is a finalist in the America’s Favorite Student contest, which provides students with a platform to tell their stories and inspire communities across the country. The competition highlights achievement, perseverance, responsibility and character.
Canales, visiting with KTEX-106’s Just David, said she enjoys being a student because every day is a challenge and an opportunity to understand the world better.
The grand prize winner will win $20,000, an exclusive tour of The Planetary Society in Pasadena, California with Bill Nye, and a feature in Reader’s Digest where they will share their educational journey.
Canales has been a distinguished honor roll student and AVID participant with involvement in the Anchor Club, student council and the National Junior Honor Society. She also plays soccer and performs in the marching band. After graduation, she seeks to study criminal law and criminal justice at Baylor University, with the intent of becoming a lawyer.
