MURDER SUSPECT FOUND GUILTY IN WALLER COUNTY DISTRICT COURT

Ronald Brandyburg (Waller County Jail)

It took only 24 minutes for a Waller County jury to come back with a guilty verdict in the trial of Ronald Brandyburg.

The jury reached the verdict following a trial in the 506th District Court before Judge Gary Chaney.

After four days of evidence, Brandyburg was found guilty of the January 14, 2020 murder of Brookshire resident Clifford Richard.

Brandyburg, who was charged with Murder, was convicted of killing Richard by using a box cutter to cut his victim’s neck.

The jury heard from three eyewitnesses to the murder, a paramedic who treated and transported Richard, a medical examiner from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, a former Brookshire Police Department officer, Texas Ranger Jeffrey Wolf and Dr. Michael Arambula.

Defense was seeking to offer mental health evidence which was ultimately deemed irrelevant to the murder as it did not affect the Defendant's ability to know right from wrong.

Punishment for Brandyburg will be determined at a subsequent hearing before Judge Chaney at a later date following the completion of a pre-sentence investigation.
