Washington County Precinct 2 Commissioner Candice Bullock has made her decision on who should take her place.

On Thursday, Commissioner Bullock endorsed businessman Jim Chisolm in the May 26 runoff to succeed her.

In a statement, Bullock said that she felt that Chisolm is the individual best prepared to serve Precinct 2.

She cited his business acumen, management experience, and proven ability to seek creative solutions, which she feels will serve local residents well.

Bullock went on to say that she worked closely with Chisolm on the Texas Department of Transportation’s proposed changes at Highway 290 and FM 1155, as well as his efforts to strengthen the business community, and plan for the future of the area.

After Bullock announced that she was not seeking another term, a four-person primary was held on March 3. Chisolm was the top vote getter with 664 votes, while Schonefeld was in second place with 523 votes.

Since neither of the candidates got a 50% majority, they are having a run-off to decide, who will be the new Washington County Precinct Two Commissioner.

Early voting runs May 18–22. Election Day is Tuesday, May 26th.

Bullock's full statement endorsing Chisolm

“It has been an honor and blessing to serve the residents of Precinct 2 on the Washington County Commissioners Court for almost eight years, and thank you for putting your trust in me,” Bullock stated.

“When I announced I would not seek re-election, I knew strong candidates would step forward. In this runoff, Jim Chisolm is the individual best prepared to serve Precinct 2.

His business acumen, management experience, and proven ability to seek creative solutions will serve our residents well. I have worked closely with him on the Texas Department of Transportation’s proposed changes at Highway 290 and FM 1155, as well as his efforts to strengthen our business community and plan for the future of our area.”

After careful consideration and prayer, I am proud to endorse Jim Chisolm for Washington County Precinct 2 Commissioner. I urge every voter in Precinct 2 to take action: vote for Jim Chisolm in the May 26 runoff and encourage your friends and neighbors to join you in supporting him—for the future of our community."
