ELECTION DAY FOR BURTON CITY COUNCIL RACES

  

Today (Saturday) is Election Day for the Burton City Council election.

Burton City Hall is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters to make their final decisions on the three council seats up for election.

All three council incumbents are running for another term, and they each face an opponent.

Position 2 Councilmember Tommie Gilmon is challenged by Sheila Ripple.  Position 3 Councilmember Jeff Eckhardt is running against Charly Ruemke.  Position 5 Councilmember Macey Tidwell is opposed by Berneake Gantt.

According to numbers from Washington County Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, 78 people voted early.  There are 272 registered voters in the City of Burton, so early voting turnout was 29 percent.

Washington County’s primary runoff election for the county judge and Precinct 2 commissioner seats will take place on Tuesday, May 26th.  Early voting will open on Monday, May 18th and end on Friday, May 22nd
