WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO UPDATE NAME OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS DEPT.

Washington County’s emergency communications department may formally be getting a new name.

County commissioners will vote on Tuesday on whether to officially update the name of the communications department, referred to as E911, to Washington County 911.  The agenda reads that the change is intended to bring consistency and standardization of terminology.

Other business involving the department will include its quarterly report and information discussion about a livestock registration form.  The project, which was brought up during a commissioners court meeting in February, would allow livestock owners to submit information for the purpose of assisting with loose livestock.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will receive the county’s 2025 annual comprehensive financial report from outside auditing firm Singleton, Clark & Company, PC.  They will also act on a social media agreement with CivicPlus for the sheriff’s office and vote on a bank depository contract with Brenham National Bank.

Additionally, commissioners will:

  • Consider budget amendments and line item transfers.
  • Take up a subdivision variance request for a land division fronting Quarry Road in Precinct 3, consisting of 7.71 acres.
  • Vote on a final plat for the Green Pastures subdivision located along Windy Acres Road and Mount Vernon Road in Precinct 3, consisting of seven lots.
  • Act on a $50 donation to the sheriff’s office from the Washington County Ladies Lions Club.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
