BELLVILLE HIGH SCHOOL INDUCTS TWO FORMER PRO ATHLETES INTO HALL OF HONOR
Bellville High School held a very special night on Monday as it inducted two former professional athletes into their Hall of Honor.
Former NFL Wide Receiver Emmanuel Sanders and former MLB pitcher Lucas Luetge were inducted into the Hall of Honor at the annual Bellville High School Spring Sports Awards Ceremony.
Both men graduated from Bellville High School in 2005.
Sanders was a former four sports athlete at Bellville High School, who took part in football, basketball, baseball, and track.
Following high school, Sanders moved on to SMU, where he was a three-year starter for the Mustangs football team.
He would then go on to play for five NFL Teams over the course of a 12-year career most notably with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos.
Sanders played in three Super Bowls, and was also a two-time Pro Bowler.
After playing baseball for the Brahmas, Luetge went on to play college baseball for San Jacinto College and Rice University.
He debuted in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners in 2012. Later that year, he was one of six pitchers used by the Mariners in a combined no-hitter against the Dodgers.
Luetge's most notable run came with the New York Yankees in 2021, where he was a part of their bullpen. He posted a 2.74 ERA in 2021, and a 2.67 ERA in 2022.
Luetge retired from baseball just last year.
