WASHINGTON CO. HISTORICAL COMMISSION TO PRESENT ‘SURVIVORS OF THE ALAMO’ SUNDAY
The Washington County Historical Commission invites the public this weekend to a program telling some of the stories from the Battle of the Alamo.
The commission will present “Survivors of the Alamo” on Sunday at 3 p.m. at The Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre. Seating begins at 2:30 p.m.
In the program, actors in period costume portray survivors of the 1836 Alamo battle in San Antonio and tell in their own words what they experienced during that battle.
Survivors included Susanna Dickinson, wife of one of the Alamo defenders; Joe, servant to William B. Travis; and Jose de la Pena, a Mexican Army officer who was part of Santa Anna’s attacking force.
The event is free and open to the public. No tickets or RSVPs are required.
