UNITY THEATRE UNVEILS 2026-27 SEASON
Unity Theatre in Brenham has shared its lineup for the 2026-27 season.
Four Main Stage shows and two Studio Series productions will entertain theatregoers in the season, themed “Past. Present. Possibility.”
Opening the Main Stage series will be “The Marvelous Wonderettes” by Roger Bean, playing September 24 – October 11. The musical will feature dozens of classic songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s as Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy bring laughs and surprises at their Springfield High School prom, and later a 10-year reunion.
Next will be “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” adapted by Joe Landry, running December 3-20. A live 1940’s radio play tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, who guide him toward generosity, love and the true magic of giving.
“Silent Sky” by Lauren Gunderson will be next, playing February 18 – March 7, 2027. The production tells the true story of early-20th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, whose findings become a groundbreaking key to measuring cosmic distance, and it explores ambition, resilience and the personal cost of scientific devotion.
Finally, “Dial M for Murder”, adapted by Frederick Knott, will be performed June 3 – 20, 2027. The thriller revolves around Tony Wendice’s plan to kill his wealthy wife, Margot, for her money, and later her attempt to prove her innocence when she kills her attacker in self-defense.
The Studio Series will start with “Mirror Lake” by Steven Dietz, October 29 – November 8. Philip and Dinah share a dangerous game by staging elaborate “scares” for one another, rituals that expose their deepest fears and darkest truths.
The other Studio Series show will be “Shirley Valentine” by Willy Russell, set for April 8 – 18, 2027. Shirley’s youth is fading away, and her nights at home make her feel more like household staff than family, but her best friend gifts her a two-week trip to Greece, where she discovers sun, sea, freedom—and the woman she thought she’d lost forever.
