BRENHAM FD RESPONDS THURSDAY TO SPILLS, CRASH

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out three times on Thursday and once early this (Friday) morning.

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday, units responded to a hazmat spill at East Stone Street and South Blue Bell Road.  They mitigated the spill and returned to service.

Another hazmat spill was reported shortly after noon at Highway 290 West and FM 1948.  Firefighters checked the spill, but there was no hazmat.

Around 2:30 p.m., BFD members went out to a crash in the 1000 block of North Park Street.  They provided blocking for the scene until both vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Approaching 5:45 a.m. today, the department responded to a report of a structure fire at the Fairview Terrace Apartments, 909 Hasskarl Drive.  Units made location to find burnt food in the oven and used a positive pressure fan to ventilate the light smoke that was in the apartment.  Once the smoke was cleared out, the department cleared the call.
