BRENHAM MAN CHARGED WITH SIX COUNTS OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE POSSESSION
A Brenham man faces multiple drug possession charges following his arrest by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., Sergeant Adam Zavala initiated a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Ewing Street due to an expired registration. During the interaction with the driver, Sergeant Zavala reported detecting signs of criminal activity and requested consent to search the vehicle, but the driver denied consent.
The Brenham Police Department’s K-9 Unit was requested and presented a positive alert. According to the sheriff’s office, numerous vapes, marijuana and various drug paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle.
32-year-old James Matthew Kasparek was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail. He has been charged with six counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Report Change of Address, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
