Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell will soon be upgrading its aging playground equipment to provide a safe, fun place for area children to play.

The upgrade is being made possible thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority.

The LCRA Community Grant, along with $23,979 in matching funds from the church, will improve the current conditions of their facility by providing new playground equipment, a basketball area, picnic tables, benches, and shade structures.

Playground Committee Member Joni Cook, who submitted the grant application on behalf of the church, said that they have grand visions of the playground being a place where people can host birthday parties and other gatherings.

The church, which is located at 165 County Road 307 in Caldwell, hosts a monthly food pantry for the public and other community events where an area for children to have a safe place to play would be welcome.

This is one of 41 grants awarded recently through LCRA Community Grants.

These grants are awarded twice a year as part of LCRA’s effort to give back to communities in its wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas.

Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted in July. More information is available at www.lcra.org/grants.
