SALES TAX REBATES IN JUNE DOWN FOR WASHINGTON CO. & BRENHAM, UP FOR BURTON
Sales and tax distributions for the month of June were down for Washington County and the City of Brenham, but up for the City of Burton.
Washington County’s June rebate was $414,683, down 4.42 percent from the $433,864 received in June 2025. The county’s payments to date this year are up 2.21 percent over where they were in 2025, at $2,522,316 in comparison to $2,467,703.
The City of Brenham took in $866,048 this month, down 1.39 percent from last June, when the city collected $878,284. So far this year, the city has received $5,329,866, up 0.39 percent from the $5,308,756 received through June 2025.
The City of Burton’s collection for June was up 28.65 percent, coming in at $14,228 this month over the $11,059 brought in last June. The city’s receipts for the year are down 17.01 percent at $80,008, compared to $96,417 for the first six months of 2025.
Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for the month of June, up 7.4 percent from last June and up 5.7 percent for the year to date.
June’s allocations are based on sales made in April by businesses that report tax monthly.
